    Naomie Harris Met Ball Makeup

    /

The inspiration for Naomie Harris Met Ball Makeup was punk chic. As told to Blaq Vixen Beauty by celebrity makeup artist Lucky Smyler. Edited for clarity. Kevyn Aucoin & Urban Decay | Naomie Harris Met Ball Makeup I framed the face by penciling in her eyebrows with Kevyn Aucoin Brow Pencil in Brunette. Then, I primed the eyelid with Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. This step is very essential. MAC, Bobbi Brown, Tom Ford, NARS, & Dior | Naomie Harris Met Ball Makeup I placed a light dusting of MAC Eyeshadow in Ricepaper under the brow, then swept Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Blonde all over the lid. I wanted all of the focus to be…

Tagged as “one of the industry’s most beautiful rising stars,” Jasmine Tookes recently started in a Models.com video.  “In the Light” shows Tookes with three inspirational makeup looks created by makeup artist Lisa Houghton. Nude Glow The first look, Nude Glow, is “an elegant and ‘natural’ look” comprised of two elements: a dramatic brow and radiant skin. NARS Sheer Glow Foundation (see Jasmine Tookes’ foundation shade) Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder The look is finally “in the light” with Pat McGrath’s favorite “shiny stick” Madina Milano Chic and Shine Stick. Urban Beauty Legend: Toni Braxton’s Makeup Line

    /

Recently, entertainment blogger Sandra Rose conducted an interview with Toni Braxton’s personal assistant Zo. Zo, whose real name is Lorenzo, is a 22-year-old college grad who counted “best friend” Nivea as a client before meeting Braxton and her sisters. What caught my attention in Rose’s interview was this sentence: But Zo takes it all in stride as he prepared to fly back to Los Angeles from Atlanta yesterday to assist Braxton, who’s launching her own makeup line soon. I loved the first season of Braxton’s Family Values immensely. I wanted to write a post titled “Beauty and the Braxtons: Makeup Tips I Learned from Watching the Series.” Besides the drama,…

    Amber Riley Essence Magazine Makeup

    /

Yesterday I finally picked up the March 2011 issue of Essence Magazine (with Angela Bassett on the cover). I was looking forward to a couple of features in this particular issue – the Essence 2011 Beauty Awards, Angela Bassett’s “Unstoppable” and of course, Amber Riley’s “She’s Every Woman” photoshoot. I shot celebrity makeup artist Saisha Beecham an email after she revealed that she did Riley’s makeup on Facebook. I am totally grateful that Saisha emailed me back, and I’m able to share this information with you all! She used all NARS Cosmetics. You can check out her Facebook and Twitter.
