Editor’s note: In celebration of the new year, many of 2011’s most popular posts will be rewritten and updated in order to attract a new host of readers. In the meantime, enjoy!
Ever since I bit the bullet and bought an iPhone earlier this month (the iPhone 4S was out of stock, and I was already impatient), I couldn’t seem to tear myself away as I’m having too much fun! It is one of the best purchases I’ve made in 2011! I’ve downloaded apps (newest one is Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday app), checked in with Foursquare, uploaded pics to Instagram and relaxed to my favorite stations on Pandora. Keep up with me when I’m not delivering the latest beauty tea!
But since 2012 is on the horizon, it’s back to work. I’ve compiled the top five popular posts of 2011 on Blaq Vixen Beauty:
Coming in first place with approximately 11,902 views is First Look at Jennifer Williams’ Lucid Cosmetics Lip Gloss Line. After months of false starts, Basketball Wives reality star Jennifer Williams officially launched her all-natural lip gloss line on June 27, 2011. The YBF reported that Jen will be expanding the Lucid Cosmetics brand to include eyeshadow, blush, and earrings in 2012. Save 20% with code GLOSS at checkout. Image via In the Basement.
In my Should You Avoid MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Microfinish Powder? post, which snagged second place with 3,776 views, I reported on a horrifying epidemic that claimed a few of our favorite actresses like Nicole Kidman, Eva Longoria and Taraji P. Henson on the red carpet. Originally I believed this miraculous powder was the culprit (according to Stylelite and Wendy Williams) but other products caused the ghostly white patches that appeared on camera …or so the story goes. 2011 was the year of funky, “peel and stick” lip tattoos and decals, which we saw celebrities like Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Keyshia Cole pouting and posing in various designs. Perhaps none was more glam than Athena Elliott of Minx Houston Introduces Glitzy Lips Lip Minx, reigning in third place with 3715 views. Consisting of water-soluble foil, you prep the lips with adhesive and smooth strips of foil on your lips to get this “kiss of glamour.” Image via the Violent Lips’ Facebook page.
While Wiz Khalifa’s “Roll Up” song did not get uploaded to my iPod, it was Cassie’s appearance as his leading lady in the video that piqued my interest. Cassie Wears CoverGirl, Melody Ehsani and Minx in Wiz Khalifa’s Roll Up Video took fourth place with 3,657 views. Also, make sure to check out Danielle’s take on Cassie’s sultry smoky eye makeup over at Fashion Bomb Daily. Image via Fanpop.
Finally, securing the fifth place with 2,740 views was Nia Long’s Skin Care Secrets. My favorite girl crush Nia Long, who welcomed her second child–a boy named Kez Sunday Udoka–back in November 2011, finally opened up to BET about her complete skin care regimen.
