This past Monday, the photogenic Think Like a Man Too cast graced the red carpet for the LA premiere hosted at TCL Chinese Theatre. Taraji P. Henson arrived in a KAYAT Fall 2014 Cranberry Hand Beaded Halter Gown (according to the brand’s Facebook page). This is the same dress Avenue Magazine highlighted in their coverage of KAYAT’s Fall 2014 collection, which was shown exclusively at Marina B boutique during New York Fashion Week back in February:
One piece that stood out was a red embroidered halter dress featuring a pattern derivative of the Berber nomads of Northern Africa, and delicately embellished with Swarovski crystals.
I am on the fence about the print and the plunging neckline. However, I do like the history behind the gown. She accessorized with a quilted pewter clutch, heather gray stiletto nails (and pedi), and strappy silver sandals.
Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) wore a Single Taraji Dress and black BCBGMAXAZRIA Herve Leger Halona Multi-Piece Leather Boots on Empire Season 1, Episode 4 “False Imposition.”
Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) stunned in a Pre-Fall 2015 SINGLE by Galina Sobolev “Taraji” Dress in “False Imposition,” which was also the latest outfit spotlighted in the show’s Facebook album “Cookie’s Closet.”
The brand’s DVF-esque red print wrap dress features an all-over, red, white and black animal print pattern, open flowing sleeves with strategic slits, a slight caped back, and a flouncy skirt.
I wasn’t in the supernatural spirit this year, so I stayed home, blogged and anxiously waited for the next episode of Scandal to come on. Yet, this year some of our faves took to Instagram to show up and show out for fright night. Here were my top 5 haute Halloween makeup looks from Instagram and beyong:
Haute Halloween Makeup Looks: Tika Sumpter as Nefertiti
Obviously I’ve found a new woman cave in Tika Sumpter’s womb so I’ll stay here for the rest of the night! First I shared her brow secret and now I am fawning over her riveting rendition of an iconic woman!
The Gossip Girl alum enlisted celebrity makeup artist Ashunta Sheriff to help her channel Egypt’s most beautiful queen Nefertiti. Rocking a Kajal-accentuated, golden brown winged eye (courtesy of Merle Norman Pro Pen Liner) fringed with House of Lashes Noir Fairy Lashes, the Lady of Grace was absolutely flawless.
Sheriff revealed she used her Perfect Blend in Deep and Ben Nye Banana Powder to highlight. To “bump up the contour,” she used MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Dark. To add more depth to Sumpter’s cheekbones, Sheriff used MAC Eyeshadow in Sketch.
The lip is NARS Velvet Matte Lipstick Pencil in Train Bleu warmed up with Lip Bar Lipstick in Cosmo. See more vampy lip looks for both brown and dark skin.
The fashion credits for episode 11 (“Death Will Have His Day”) is still in draft but I was able to get a jump on this week’s episode. First, thanks to Mary Collins of Vauje Jewelry enthusiastically sharing that Cookie Lyon wore one of her necklaces (from her “Empire Inspired” collection) all over her Instagram (follow her at @vauje), I secured my first sighting of the night. And now, after a little searching, here’s the rest of my findings (with cheaper and black-owned alternatives where appropriate):

Cookie Lyon’s sunglasses is today’s Empire fashion topic! One peek at my dash, and I knew I had to hurry up and publish this post! Although we’re well into the Fall season, it’s never too late to shop for a pair of showstopping sunnies. And if Empire still has your attention, if only for the fashion, then you’re in luck!
This season, Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) really flaunted her sartorial proclivities, boasting lusty-worthy shades from Thierry Lasry, Versace, Dita, and Le Snob.
Let’s recap the styles we’ve seen Cookie Lyon wear thus far:
