Gugu Mbatha-Raw by Nick Barose: Juara Skin Care, Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Votre Vu and Tom Ford

I’ve been reading reports of Gugu Raw-Mbatha being the new “Lupita Nyong’o” but I say, would it be so threatening if we had more than one talented black It Girl in Hollywood? Anyway, on to the makeup!

Celebrity makeup artist Nick Barose’s mission was “fresh luminous skin,” which he accomplished by using Juara Skin Care Sweet Black Tea & Ginger Matteying Moisturizer. He told Glamour.com, “Gugu was wearing a green dress that had a gorgeous golden sheen to it, and her jewelry has purple tones, so we went with a subtle eye, incorporating purple but keeping it soft.” To achieve that soft subtlety, he patted on Tom Ford Eye Colour Quad in Lavender Lust.

To lift and elongate Gugu’s amethyst-toned almond gaze, he applied two layers of Votre Vu Charbon Eiffel Power Mascara and concentrated the drama towards to the outer corners of her eyes. That “fresh, rosy, peachy-tone gloss” is none other than Chanel Glossimer in Wild Rose, which you may remember as one of Olivia Pope’s pink lip colors. It’s great to see how it looks on other skin tones.

To continue the luminosity without the threat of grease on Gugu’s skin, he also used Juara Tiare Jasmine Tea Body Milk on her shoulders, arms and legs. “Something lighter like this is perfect for spring because it won’t get sticky or stain the clothes.” Definitely noted.

For foundation and highlight, Barose turned to none other than Dolce and Gabbana Perfect Matte Liquid Foundation in Rose Beige and Tom Ford Skin Illuminator in Fire Lust, respectively. His weapon of choice was the original beautyblender.
