This past Monday, the photogenic Think Like a Man Too cast graced the red carpet for the LA premiere hosted at TCL Chinese Theatre. Taraji P. Henson arrived in a KAYAT Fall 2014 Cranberry Hand Beaded Halter Gown (according to the brand’s Facebook page). This is the same dress Avenue Magazine highlighted in their coverage of KAYAT’s Fall 2014 collection, which was shown exclusively at Marina B boutique during New York Fashion Week back in February:
One piece that stood out was a red embroidered halter dress featuring a pattern derivative of the Berber nomads of Northern Africa, and delicately embellished with Swarovski crystals.
I am on the fence about the print and the plunging neckline. However, I do like the history behind the gown. She accessorized with a quilted pewter clutch, heather gray stiletto nails (and pedi), and strappy silver sandals.

I wasn’t in the supernatural spirit this year, so I stayed home, blogged and anxiously waited for the next episode of Scandal to come on. Yet, this year some of our faves took to Instagram to show up and show out for fright night. Here were my top 5 haute Halloween makeup looks from Instagram and beyong:
Haute Halloween Makeup Looks: Tika Sumpter as Nefertiti
Obviously I’ve found a new woman cave in Tika Sumpter’s womb so I’ll stay here for the rest of the night! First I shared her brow secret and now I am fawning over her riveting rendition of an iconic woman!
The Gossip Girl alum enlisted celebrity makeup artist Ashunta Sheriff to help her channel Egypt’s most beautiful queen Nefertiti. Rocking a Kajal-accentuated, golden brown winged eye (courtesy of Merle Norman Pro Pen Liner) fringed with House of Lashes Noir Fairy Lashes, the Lady of Grace was absolutely flawless.
Sheriff revealed she used her Perfect Blend in Deep and Ben Nye Banana Powder to highlight. To “bump up the contour,” she used MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Dark. To add more depth to Sumpter’s cheekbones, Sheriff used MAC Eyeshadow in Sketch.
The lip is NARS Velvet Matte Lipstick Pencil in Train Bleu warmed up with Lip Bar Lipstick in Cosmo. See more vampy lip looks for both brown and dark skin.

I’m sure many of you are welcoming Fall with a new hair color and cut. I’m still not done experimenting with new hues this season, so I thought it would be great to post how to get your perfect shag with tips that celebrity hairstylist shared with Glamour magazine in July 2009:
Start with the right cut. This remix (as Taraji P. Henson models here) of the classic bob is all about layers. Ask for longer ones on the sides and angled fringe. “Asymmetrical bangs add sex appeal,” says stylist Dante Blandshaw, who gave Taraji P. Henson her shag.
Piece out. Rub smoothing cream between palms and then onto damp hair, starting at the ends; it keeps them choppy in a good way.
Ditch your brush. After blow-drying, run a wide-tooth comb through hair (a brush will flatten it). “Or shake it out,” Blandshaw says. A good cut should fall right into place.
Editor’s note: In celebration of the new year, many of 2011’s most popular posts will be rewritten and updated in order to attract a new host of readers. In the meantime, enjoy!
Ever since I bit the bullet and bought an iPhone earlier this month (the iPhone 4S was out of stock, and I was already impatient), I couldn’t seem to tear myself away as I’m having too much fun! It is one of the best purchases I’ve made in 2011! I’ve downloaded apps (newest one is Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday app), checked in with Foursquare, uploaded pics to Instagram and relaxed to my favorite stations on Pandora. Keep up with me when I’m not delivering the latest beauty tea!
But since 2012 is on the horizon, it’s back to work. I’ve compiled the top five popular posts of 2011 on Blaq Vixen Beauty:
