The Vanity: Revlon All Access Expert and June Ambrose Talk Hot Winter Beauty and Fashion Tips

As you may know, celebrity stylist and celebrated style maven June Ambrose is one of Revlon's beauty and fashion experts featured in their All Access app (which is free--click here to download for your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad). The theme for October is "Look Changers." For example, here's the beauty tip for today from Polly Blitzer, the founder of Beauty Blitz:

You Can Get With This or You Can Get With That: The Beauty Preferences Edition

Singer Having Makeup Applied I've forgotten how fun it is to participate in a beauty tag...even if I tend to overthink my answers! The stunning Khadine from Cosmetic Passion recently tagged me on her blog in a beauty preference meme in which I have to choose one beauty product in a series of questions:

[blush] or [bronzer]?

Sure, I love using bronzer as blush, eyeshadow and as a highlight, but nothing beats a gorgeous, ethereal glow you can get with a coral-, orange- or peach-hued blush. My favorites:

Face Blush by Iman

[lipstick] or [lip gloss]?

Purple lipstick please! But I think I might be wearing a host of fun lip tattoos this fall just because I hear they stay on forever with minimal retouching. My favorites:

[eyeliner] or [mascara]?

I know winged eyeliner and its variations is hot right now but give me a great mascara to define my eyes. Too much work to get the perfect cat eye nowadays! My favorites:

[foundation] or [concealer]?

Hands down, I have to choose foundation---especially a cream foundation that can double as a concealer. My favorites: In progress.

[neutral eyeshadow] or [colored eyeshadow]?

I love a nice wash of a metallic, neutral eyeshadow just because I'm too lazy to blend colored eyeshadow and make it look presentable. Besides, metallic eyeshadow is a great Fall trend! See below!

[loose eyeshadow] or [pressed eyeshadow]?

I hate loose shadow (too messy) but it doesn't stop me from using the loose eyeshadows that I have. I love pressed eyeshadows in palettes though...granted that I don't break them! [laughs] My favorites:

[brushes] or [sponges]?

Believe it or not, I prefer using my BeautyBlender over my makeup brushes. I know there are people out there who think the BeautyBlender is nothing special but I have to disagree. First off, you're supposed to use it to stipple foundation, blush, etc. on the skin. If you use it like a regular sponge, you'll be disappointed. I love it because the technique is so artistic to me. My favorites:

Vixen, Validated: How to Get Halle Berry's Makeup Look from the 68th Golden Globes

TEMPTALIA---These couple of years I've been trying to find out what Halle Berry's makeup artist used on her since I always admired how her simple but elegant her makeup looked. You never hear about Halle Berry having a makeup mishap - ever! Tell me why it never occurred me to walk down the Revlon aisle at my local CVS! I mean, she's been a Revlon spokesperson since 1996 so that should've been a no-brainer!

As for the dress - personally I love it. If I had her confidence and her skin, I would've worn it as well. However, I noticed that not a lot of people cared for this Nina Ricci dress and I can understand that. Opinions aside though, she's still stunning!

[face] Revlon Aqua Mineral Makeup in Medium Deep. I wish Revlon would've upped the SPF to 15 instead of 13 but I'm grateful that they added SPF in the first place. This mineral foundation was formulated with coconut water which keeps Halle's skin hydrated and looking luminous.

[eyes] For Halle's smokey eye, you can recreate it by using Revlon Fabulash Mascara in Black (one of Halle's favorite Revlon products), Revlon Luxurious Color Smoky Crayon in Black Smoke and Revlon CustomEyes Shadow in Smoky Sexy.

[cheeks] If you look closely, you can see a touch of Revlon Matte Blush in Perfectly Peach on the apples of Halle's cheeks.

[lips] Revlon Colorburst in Soft Nude. This particular lipstick has Elasticolor technology and you can really see the benefits in this photo of Halle. It's marketed to "hug the lips" with "weightless color" that "feels like a second skin."

Hauled: Revlon, Maybelline, Disney Couture and Lancome

Did you know that it will be my birthday in ten days? I was telling one of my friends yesterday that the countdown to my birthday officially begins. I have no plans; I'm pretty much fast-forwarding until January!

Since I don't really expect anyone to get me anything (maybe money), I bought myself some early birthday "gifts:" Lancome Color Fever Plumper Gloss in City Mauve (from their Pink Irreverence Spring 2009 collection), The Little Mermaid Collection Fish Hook Hoop Earrings, The Spiked Earrings in 18k Gold by Obey, Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in Plum Perfect (435) and Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks in Berry Haute (signature shade; 660; creme), Iced Amethyst (pearl; 625), and Plumalicious (pearl; 465).

I honestly don't know why I've been buying (and wearing) lipstick lately but it's feels...comforting. Especially when I went to the gym wearing Berry Haute. I made eye contact with several guys, all of them hella cute. Go me! I swatched them on my hand but am working on creating a collage so y'all will know what they look like on my lips. Until then, I want to know what shade of lipstick are you wearing now?

EXCLUSIVE: On the Set of The Preacher's Kid with Celebrity Makeup Artists Denise and Janice Tunnell

"In The Preacher's Kid, actress Tammy Townsend's look is glamorous from start to end. For most of her makeup look we used products from Illusions Cosmetics," Janice Tunnell told Sophisticate's Black Hairstyles in the March 2009 issue. "We used a lot of powders, and we have a blush in the color Terra Cotta (right) that I like to use on her. I also like to apply a gold shimmery eyeshadow under Tammy's brow bone. I use a lot of Cargo's Bronzer on her cheeks. My best tip for applying bronzer? If it's a shimmery bronzer, I like to apply it in the cheek area. But if it's not shimmery, I like to use it in the area where I normally contour - the forehead, the jaw line and the cheeks."

Denise described Essence's character in The Preacher's Kid as "very bright and loud!" On Essence's makeup, Denise says, "Her eyes have a lot of color on them! We'll do sheer lip glosses, light pink blush, but then I'll use a lot of Illusions Cosmetics Eye Dust on her in colors like light yellow, light blue and green. I also like to use Precious Eyes Eye Color Pencils from Colors by Cynde Watson in Amethyst and Gold. I'll use it on the lower portion of her top lid so when she opens her eye, you can see just a flash of color! Sometimes I'll just use a lot of liner just as her eyeshadow and pump up her eyes with faux lashes and mascara.

LeToya Luckett also stars in the movie. "Actress/singer LeToya Luckett's character in the movie The Preacher's Kid is a young lady who is heavily in the church. Throughout the movie her character develops into a young lady...who plays with a little more makeup and becomes more glamorous," explains Denise. "The character grows up from being a Daddy's Girl and into a woman. LeToya likes Chanel blush in a light, pretty coral color. We loved to use faux lashes on her. As her character developed we used Ardell Fashion Lashes Strip Lashes in 110. LeToya also loves Revlon's ColorStay liquid foundation. It's really good for her, and we actually applied it by airbrushing it on her!"
