Vixen, Validated: How to Get Jennifer Hudson's Makeup Look at the Hope for the Haiti Now Benefit

On Friday, at the Hope for Haiti Now Benefit, Jennifer Hudson not only wowed us with her rousing version of the Beatles' "Let It Be" but with her makeup as well. Celebrity makeup artist Sam Fine gave Hudson smokey-statement eyes, a gorgeous glow, and fabulous, nude lips with a hint of rose. Recreate this look by using the following products:

face. "I always begin by perfecting the canvas," Fine detailed. "I unified varied tones, highlighed and contoured the face." To achieve this task, Fine used Bobbi Brown Stick Foundation, Iman Cosmetics Luxury Pressed Powder, and MAC Bronzing Powder. As he described in the Mo'Nique tutorial, he layered the MAC Bronzer and then NARS Blush to add a "pop" of color and shine to cheeks for a gorgeous glow. Try NARS Blush in Taj Mahal.

eyes. Hudson rocked strong, sexy eyes at the event. Fine appiled Stila Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Ebony from lashline to crease. Then he lined the inner rim, gently extending the shadow on the lower lashline. To finish her lovely smokey eyes, Fine added a feather pair of false eyelashes to increase the drama. Try Shu Uemura Black Velvet Feather False Eyelashes.

lips. Finally, Fine used a layering techinque for this area of Hudson's face as well. He used a brown lipliner to define her lips. The lipliner was a one shade darker than her complexion. He then used a satin lipstick from Dolce and Gabbana in a nude, rose shade. He layered on Yves Saint Laurent GLOSS PUR Pure Lip Gloss for shine and dimension.

As Sam Fine tweeted from his Twitter, Jennifer Hudson wants us all to know that we can buy her version of "Let It Be" on iTunes. All proceeds go to Haiti.

Vixen, Validated: How to Get Mo'Nique Makeup Look at the 2010 Golden Globes

Editor's Note: This post will be updated as soon as find more information. I am so thankful that Mr. Sam Fine is sharing what he used on Mo'Nique via Twitter. I wish more celebrity makeup artists would do the same! You can also follow him @SamFineBeauty!

It all started with a question. Amber from Brown Bombshell Beauty asked Sam Fine on Twitter what type of lashes he used on Mo'Nique for the Golden Globes. I promptly emailed my contact and they sent me a complete breakdown of Mo'Nique's makeup look:

[face] Sam Fine described Mo'Nique's Golden Globes look as "classic glamour." He sculpted her face with one of his favorite drugstore foundations for women of color, Black Opal True Color Creme Stick Foundation with SPF 8. Next, he dusted CARGO Bronzer and MAC Bronzing Powder on cheeks to achieve a glowing complexion.

[eyes] Fine chose the #747 in long, a wispy style from the Image Exclusive store in Los Angeles. The #747 is Fine's favorite style and it also comes in small and medium. To make Mo'Nique's eyes pop, Fine reached for Shiseido The Makeup Eyeliner Pencil Duo in Desert Dusk. Instead of using white eyeliner, Fine recommends that for brown-skinned babes, we opt for a beige eyeliner since it is more wearable. He used the Shimmery Beige shade inside the inner rim of the eye to make it appear wider and whiter. For her eyebrows, first he bleached them and then he filled them in with Maybelline Define-A-Brow Eyebrow Pencil in Medium Brown.

[lips] Fine topped of Mo'Nique's look with Yves Saint Laurent GOLDEN GLOSS Shimmering Lip Gloss. This gloss contains 0.2% 24k gold, which of course was perfect for our Golden Globe Goddess.

Legendary Ladies: How to Get Dorothy Dandridge's and Marilyn Monroe's Makeup Look

Vintage Glamour Icons: Dorothy Dandridge and Marilyn Monroe

I received a pitch for vintage glamour icon, Marilyn Monroe. Six days ago, on August 4, marked the 47th anniversary of her death.

As you might have read, Marilyn Monroe and Dorothy Dandridge were good friends. Myra Panache, editor and founder of the Panache Report, wrote that "after Dandridge would finish performing with the Desi Arnez band in Hollywood, she would call Monroe. They would talk for hours about their careers, problems with men and racism in Hollywood. Dandridge, Monroe and Ava Gardner often went to parties together."

Panache added, "Monroe never tried to hide her friendship with Dandridge. Since it was so unpopular for white to have black friends during those segregated times, white media outlets refused to report on their friendship, even if they were peers in the same field.

Lena Horne dubbed Dorothy Dandridge "our Black Marilyn Monroe." This year, on September 8, will mark the 44th anniversary of Dorothy Dandridge's death. So in honor of the friendship that these two vintage glamour icons, let's talk about how to get their flawless skin, bedroom eyes, and perfect pout.

You want to be legendary too, right?

The Vanity: Sam Fine's Basics of Beauty DVD

If you think this is drool-worthy, wait until you see the embedded clips! Hold on, scratch that, wait until you can actually buy the DVD! This is the official cover for Sam Fine's Basics of Beauty! This DVD features a trio of step-by-step makeovers designed to address various beauty challenges we all experience from day-to-day such as creating a natural look to one that is influenced by trends. I'm more comfortable with natural looks myself but if Sam Fine is going to show me detailed instructions on how to channel my inner It-girl, so be it! Expect to learn which products and techniques to use but to also have your FAQs answered. As a delicious bonus, the DVD also includes special features - behind-the-scenes footage of Fine working with Iman. I hope this DVD will be just as good, if not better than his book. Let's hope it's way better! The book, from my understanding, received mixed reviews. Clutch Magazine has hooked up with Sam Fine to provide a Summer tips series.
