The Vanity: Most Popular Posts of 2011 Featuring Nicki Minaj, Cassie, Nia Long, Make Up For Ever and Glitzy Lips

Editor's note: In celebration of the new year, many of 2011's most popular posts will be rewritten and updated in order to attract a new host of readers. In the meantime, enjoy! Check out last year's top ten list of popular posts.

Photo courtesy of Fuck Yeah! Ethnic ModelsEver since I bit the bullet and bought an iPhone earlier this month (the iPhone 4S was sold out and I was already impatient), I couldn't seem to tear myself away as I'm having too much fun! It is one of the best purchases I've made in 2011! I've downloaded apps (newest one is Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday app), checked in with Foursquare, uploaded pics to Instagram and vibed to my favorite stations on Pandora. Keep up with me when I'm not delivering the latest tea, babes!

But since 2012 is on the horizon, it's back to work. I've compiled the top five popular posts of 2011 on Blaq Vixen Beauty:[...]

How to Get Nia Long's Makeup Look on "The View"

Nia Long on The View

As you might know, I consider Nia Long as one of my girl crushes. Last month, I posted her entire skin care regimen but never had the pleasure of posting what products were used to create one of her beauty looks. Well, if you caught Long on "The View" this past Tuesday, you might have noticed that she was glowing more than usual. Celebrity makeup artist Saisha Beecham said that she knew that Nia "would be wearing a coral Rachel Roy [Fold-Neck] Dress, so I wanted to give her a subtle peachy/coral look." You can check out more of Saisha Beecham's work at her website. You can also follow her on Twitter at @saishabeecham.

Sponsored Post: Lexus Luxury Awaits x Chris Rock's "Good Hair"

Editor's Note: Since Blaq Vixen Beauty has recently partnered with Strictly Fab and Lexus, this is first of many sponsored posts from the Lexus Luxury Awaits campaign. Unfortunately, I haven't had the pleasure of seeing "Good Hair" but I'm just waiting until I get an invitation to see this documentary in San Antonio. Here's me crossing my fingers and toes!

The Lexus Luxury Awaits campaigned sponsored a recent screening of Chris Rock's new documentary "Good Hair" at the Regal Theater in Atlanta, GA on Thursday, September 24, 2009. The stars came out to shine and rule the the red carpet to view the award-winning film and support Chris Rock.

The concept of the 2009 Sundance Festival award winning film developed after Rock's young young daughter Lola came inside from playing one day and asked him, "Daddy, why don't I have good hair?" It delves into how the idea of good hair was created and perpetuated throughout the African American community and how that notion has funded a multimillion dollar worldwide industry.

Rock begins by examining the Bronner Brothers hair show phenomenon where he discovers an entire underworld of hair shows and the stylists who complete for the crowning glory. He also visits barber shops, beauty salons, chemical relaxer factories, and even travels to the international weave mecca: India.

From celebrity commentaries from notables such as Maya Angelou, Rev. Al Sharpton, Nia Long, Ice-T, Salt N Pepa, and Kerry Washington to the definitions offered by regular salon patrons, Rock aims to offer a holistic view of the definition of "good" hair. He even explores how African American hair care impacts activities (most notably swimming and exercise), pocketbooks, sexual relationships, and self-esteem.

Promotions: The Trailer for Chris Rock's "Good Hair" Documentary

With appearances by Nia Long, Meagan Good, Raven-Symone, Salt 'n' Pepa, Kerry Washington, Tracie Thoms, and Maya Angelou, I think it's safe to say that seeing "Good Hair" will be one of the highlights of this year for me.

I can't wait to see this! I think if I saw this, it would definitely drive home the fact that good hair is hair that's healthy, that's growing. Also, I think it would inspire me to embrace my natural hair texture and find products to keep it moisturized and more manageable, you know?

Have you seen the "Good Hair" documentary yet? Are you planning to?

The Vanity: Rihanna, Nia Long and Eva Marcille Named Winners in My Black is Beautiful Awards

I guess I was the only one that didn't know that "My Black is Beautiful" were having their beauty awards in which they nominated and announced winners in the following categories: Beautiful Hair (Pantene), Beautiful Face (Olay Definity and CoverGirl Queen Collection) and Beautiful Smile (Crest). I was happy to see that Taraji P. Henson, Nia Long, Tracee Ellis Ross, Anika Rose, Eva Marcille and Regina King were among the nominees.

The Beautiful Hair award goes to Rihanna. Seriously, who else was going to win? Sure, you might be tired of hearing about pop's favorite "It Girl." However, when were you not inspired by her "uber-original style?" Buy me an all-white suit and a leopard top and I'm good to go! On the other hand, Taraji P. Henson's shift from a chic bob to a rockstar-like shag did inspire me to cut my hair again. And if I do decide to go natural in the future, I hope my curl pattern is similar to that of Tracee Ellis Ross.

While Queen Latifah and Jill Scott are definitely beautiful - inside and out - it is beauty of Nia Long that has captivated us all! If I had the choice to have the glow of my celebrity, I'd request Nia Long because she has nice, luminous skin that gets better with age. While I was happy that Essence did a hair diary on Nia Long I am really interested in Nia Long's skin secrets to that I take notes!

I think I was the only surprised by the nominees but the winner as well. Eva Marcille beat out Regina King and Anika Noni Rose for best smile. I was betting on Regina King to be honest with you! Ever since I've hooked up with Crest, I've had the chance to try products that I would purchase because they work: the Crest Whitestrips Advanced Seal, the Crest Pro-Health Enamel Shield Toothpaste, and the Crest Pro-Health Enamel Shield Mouth Rinse.

Are you satisfied with the winners/nominees or do you feel someone else should've won?
