Enchanting at the Emmys: How to Get Loretta Devine's Smokey Purple Eyes and Shimmering Berry Pink Lips

Loretta Devine at the 2011 Emmys

"Jumping the Broom" star Loretta Devine arrived at the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards in a Deanzign Couture Emerald Green Jersey Dress. We thought she looked superb in this gown but would've loved it if she had better support! Nevertheless, Devine was still one of the best dressed of the evening. She won for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama for her role as Adele Webber on Grey's Anatomy.

Celebrity makeup artist Anthony Merante worked with the Emmy winner last night. He applied Anastasia Illumin8 Eye Shadow Duo in My Bedford (pale pink shimmer/ violet sheen combo), "with a damp brush to give it staying power." Merante coated Devine's lashes with Anastasia Lash Lifting Mascara.

Devine's flattering flush is courtesy of Bobbi Brown's Chocolate Cherry Pot Rouge. He lined her lips with MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Lip Waterproof Lipliner Pencil in shade Matte Raspberry 10C (a deep berry plum) and applied Anastasia Hydrafull Gloss in Sangria, a berry pink shimmer.

Should You Avoid MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Microfinish Powder?

Eva Langoria and Taraji P. Henson on BlaqVixenBeauty.com

14 January 2011: Wendy Williams reported that in Eva Longoria's case, it was her HD concealer, not her powder!

From STYLELITE: I meant to report this on Tuesday but it momentarily slipped my mind until today. The mysterious white powder that has been spotted on a slew of unfortunate celebrities (like Nicole Kidman, Uma Thurman, Taraji P. Henson and now Eva Longoria) was (incorrectly) identified by Wendy Williams. Williams pulled out a small container (which I believe was the HD Microfinish Powder To Go) and said that her makeup artist Merrell Hollis told her that the Microfinish Powder is meant for HD TV.

The mystery of the white powder has been solved...or has it?

Vixen, Validated: How to Get Dania Ramirez's Makeup Look at the 2010 People's Choice Awards

Editor's note: This post will be updated with a new picture accordingly. Thanks for your patience.

Celebrity makeup artist Matthew van Leeuwen created Dania's People Choice Awards look. In addition to CoverGirl (of course), he also used Cle de Peau, Bobbi Brown, Make Up For Ever, Shiseido, and MAC Cosmetics. Her look actually reminds me of the look he created for Salma Hayek at the 2009 Golden Globe Awards.

face. "After moisturizing with Cle de Peau Beaute Gentle Nourishing Emulsion (Emulsion Tendre), I applied a few dots of CoverGirl Clean Liquid Makeup in Tawny and blended it all over the face. Then I took Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick in Golden (#6) and used it as concealer and as a base on the entire eye area to lighten before applying shadow. Make sure to set the entire eye area with powder before you apply dry eyeshadow to avoid streaking."

eyes. "I then took CoverGirl Smoky Shadow Blast Shadow Stick in Silver Sky and filled the eyelid with it. I then defined the crease with MAKE UP FOR EVER Eyeshadow in Deep Plum Shimmer Iridescent 79. I lined the eye with CoverGirl Perfect Blend Eye Pencil in Basic Black and smudged over it with a deep black eyeshadow for blending. I applied Shiseido Luminizing Satin Eye Color in Provence to the inner half of the eyelids being careful not to overlap the eyeliner. I finished the eye with 2 coats of CoverGirl LashBlast Length Mascara in Very Black."

cheeks. "Then I applied CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Plush Peach all over the cheek and powdered the face. To make the pillows of the cheeks pop I applied a bit of Bobbi Brown Blush in Apricot."

lips. "Finally, I lined the mouth with MAC Lip Pencil Lip Liner in Plum and filled with CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain Lip Color in Plum Pout. Dot a bit of clear gloss on the mouth and she's red carpet ready!"

How to Get Rihanna's American Music Awards Makeup by Mylah Morales

Editor's note: The post will be updated with pictures soon. Thanks for understanding.

When I saw Rihanna at the 2009 American Music Awards last night, it was apparent that her makeup maven, celebrity makeup artist Mylah Morales, looked to the runway for inspiration.

If you followed New York Fashion Week, then you'll know that Pat McGrath, the P&G Global Creative Design DIrector,  made up models' eyes in a similar fashion for Prada F/W '09 show. The star product? M.A.C. PRO Glitter in Reflects Rust, $20.

According to Style.com, the theme was female empowerment. "Prada's women, with their violently frizzed-up hair, certainly had a disconcerting look about them as they advanced, with red-rimmed, glitter-ringed eyes catching the light with a nearly malevolent glint."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I never envisioned female empowerment quite like this. Their description makes me think of demon-possessed prostitutes in the age of Sherlock Holmes and Jack the Ripper. Just saying. Can you even imagine?

Thanks to Who What Wear, I know Rihanna wore an electric, custom blend of two Make Up For Ever Pure Pigment Powders: No. 4 and No. 6. Morales applied the two-toned pigment with a damp skinny eyeliner brush. She then completed Rihanna's statement-making eyes with several coats of CoverGirl's LashBlast mascara.

What do you think? Are you feeling Rihanna's look?
