The Fashion Closet: Jessica Simpson Adreana Wedge

On Monday, my parents and I hit up the Macy's at NorthStar Mall. I was really looking forward to visiting the MAC counter (a post about that is in the works) and....well, just visiting the MAC counter! However, the highlight of the day was when my mom told me to ask a MAC rep (her name is Norma, by the way) and ask her where she get her shoes from. I felt uncomfortable because (1) it required me following her into the Luby's Restaurant restroom and (2) my dad was already making jokes about how I was stalking her.

But like a good daughter, I happen to catch Norma when she walking out of the restroom. I said, "I was wondering where you got your shoes from? I know I saw you earlier and you did my makeup but I wasn't paying attention to your shoes. They're hot!" She told me that she purchased them at Macy's and that the brand was Jessica Simpson. She was a petite little thing (just like me) and they looked so fierce on her. She wore them with a black babydoll dress and black tights. Makeup was on point. If she's going to be there on February 26-28 when they have their MAC Spring Colour Forecast Preview Event, I am so going. I want her to make me up. I'm leaning towards amber, naturally.

I'm not even going to lie: Jessica Simpson can make some shoes. Hell,  several of her boots made it on my lemming list. Unfortunately, while the Adreana wedges were not my style (I don't do wedges), my mom was all over them. And again, because I felt in the giving spirit and I felt that my mom needed a pair of killer wedges such as these, I bought them for her. She wanted me to get a pair too but I declined. Had I been thinking, I would've took a picture of me in them. I totally forgot that I had my camera stashed in my Dooney. Oh well. She picked the Black Cashmere Leather. I warned her that if she didn't wear them anywhere outside the house, I was going to sell them.

Flyy Girl Gone Bad: Rock Steady Beauty Breakdown

"Taraji always wears Bobbi Brown stick foundation in the movie with a translucent powder," celebrity makeup artist Patrice Coleman revealed. A favorite translucent powder that I love using is Black Opal Invisible Oil Blocking Powder.

Taraji's look in this scene is described as "a pseudo 70’s retro look with a contemporary twist." The brows were accentuated with a dark brown powder but any dark brown eyeshadow will do, like Milani Cosmetics Powder Eyeshadow in Java Bean. Taraji's eye look consisted of M.A.C. Eyeshadow in Sushi Flower on the lid, M.A.C. Eyeshadow in Cork in the crease and a "light pink frost [eyeshadow] on the brow bone." Try Milani Cosmetics Powder Eyeshadow in Illusion.

Coleman created a heavy, extended wing look with Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black on the upper lashline. She used a black powder eyeshadow for liner on the bottom lashline. I recommend Milani Cosmetics Powder Eyeshadow in Storm. To get hypnotic, lush lashes, apply Shu Uemura Black Velvet Feather Lashes.

Taraji's shiny pout? Brush on a coat of Paula Dorf Lip Color Sheer Tint SPF 15 For Lips in Pretty topped with CoverGirl Liptints Lipgloss in Whispering Pink.

Diesel and Common Only Roll With The Brave

For all of you die-hard Common fans, Diesel is teaming up with the Grammy award winning hip hip artist to do an exclusive live performance. Common is the face of their newest fragrance, Only the Brave. This VIP event will take place on Wednesday, August 26th, 2009. I don't know about you, but I've never encountered a Common song that I didn't like. And while I'm not big on fragrances or purses from Diesel, I do like their watches.

But there's a catch: You have to be 1 of 500 consumers to make a Diesel Only the Brave purchase of $117.50 or more at the Macy's in Herald Square and other select locations. If you can do this without going into debt (or more debt!), you will receive two (2) general admission tickets to the exclusive concert, starting August 10th. The performance starts at 9 P.M at the Captale on August 26th.

Common will be performing his song "The 6th Sense." Diesel believes that this song "embodies the spirit of determination and perseverance." They also believe that this private concert "will capture the essence of empowerment, a sense that the performer depicts throughout his work, from his music to his community outreach."

I would have included the video for the song in this post, but it was hard to find a decent video - all the best ones couldn't be embeded and the ones that could were of subpar quality. But here's a link to it on ContactMusic.

On Diesel, Common has always thought that this brand was "classic, progressive and fresh." Common also admires that the brand isn't afraid to push the envelope. "I wanted to partner with Diesel because that's really what I'm about too - to be an individual and an artist, it takes both bravery and courage."

What do you think? Have you tried any of Diesel's fragrances?
