Joy Bryant epitomizes the ultimate goal for me: to look damn good with minimal makeup. There is an article in the June 2010 issue of InStyle magazine titled "The Naked Truth" in which pros revealed how they created the natural, bare-faced makeup effect on four actresses. Joy Bryant [natural makeup look for dark skin] is closer to my skin tone.
[face] In the article, Joy Bryant said, "The right foundation and concealer shades set the tone for a nice, natural look [for brown skin]." She evened out her brown skin by mixing one pump of liquid foundation in with her regular face cream and rubbed it [on her brown skin] with her hands. This also gave her dark skin that dewy glow she always seems to have. To conceal, she dabbed a concealer pen under her eyes to camouflage minor imperfections, then set her face with sheer powder.
[eyes] Bryant opted for an olive green pencil on her upper lash line for definition. To finish her eye makeup, she coated her lashes with black mascara.
[cheeks] She prefers a warm sheen so she dusted a bit of a shimmery golden bronzer on the apples of her cheeks.
[lips] As I expected, besides lip balm, Bryant is not one to indulge in lipstick (or even lip gloss) too much. Instead, she presses her lips together a few times to boost circulation and to get that rosy tone. As the finishing touch she adds a balm for shine.
