Who beautified Queen Latifah last night? At first, I thought Sam Fine since he's done her makeup in the past. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I learned that it was D'Andre Michael! D'Andre Michael has worked with the likes of Destiny's Child, Lisa Raye, Kimora Lee Simmons, Aaliyah, Macy Gray, Patti LaBelle and several other celebrities.
He was inspired by Queen Latifah wardrobe changes. "Since she had 3 changes I wanted to create a look that would suit all of her choices," he stated. "For Queen Latifah’s PCA look I decided to go with a royal/navy blue smoky eye, nude lips, and bronzed skin."
face. Michael applied CoverGirl Queen Collection Compact Foundation in Golden Honey and set it with CoverGirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Minerals Bronzer in Brown Bronze.
eyes. Michael used a combination of MAC Cosmetics and Lancome eyeshadows for Queen Latifah's stormy, smokey eyes. "I first used MAC Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Down Brown above the crease and under the lower lash. Doing this allows you to blend your darker shadows into a softer color. I then used Lancome Color Design Sensational Effects Eyeshadow in Garment on the entire lid and blended it into the color set above the crease.
For eyeliner, I turned to CoverGirl Outlast Smoothwear All Day Eyeliner in Onyx on the inner bottom eyelid for depth. Lastly, for the eyes I used CoverGirl LashBlast Waterproof Mascara in Very Black."
lips. Michael wanted to offset the smoky eye by doing more of a nude lip so Queen's eyes would stand out. "In the first step, I used a base coat of MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in Velvet Teddy and then lined her lips with Kevyn Aucoin The Flesh Tone Lip Pencil in Deep. I recommend you rub your lips together to blend your lip liner for a softer line. Lastly, for luster and shine I applied CoverGirl Lipslicks Lip Gloss in Cutie."
cheeks. Michael looked to MAC Cosmetics to give Queen's cheeks a hint of color and tone. " I used MAC Cosmetics Blush in Sweet As Cocoa because she already has beautiful cheekbones. The idea was to accentuate just the cheeks. To complete the overall look I applied CoverGirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Minerals Bronzer in Brown Bronze for a soft and subtle glow."
