beautyblender, a Perfect National Pink Day Pick

Happy National Pink Day! In honor of this fun day, I’ll talk about one of my revered pink picks: the original beautyblender.

Created by celebrity makeup artist Rea Ann Silva, this is not your usual sponge. You “bounce” it on the skin to apply your makeup. This keeps my face from turning into a layered cake. You never glide it across the skin like a regular sponge nor do you use it dry. You always wet it first for best results. It’s like watching a pink pet grow in the palm of your hand. Besides the great results I get, this is my favorite part of the whole process.

It was the first product I ever bought from Sephora. It is also one of the few products I’ve repeatedly bought. I have not tried the white or black versions, but I will one day.

Check out some of the beautyblender’s famous fans:

Who Loves the beautyblender?

Stylist June Ambrose is known for sharing instant glamour shots with her devotees. In this pic, makeup artist Porsche Cooper beats her face for a glam night out. “The [beautyblender] is great for creating a seamless finish under the eyes & all over the face,” says Ambrose.

RiRi Loves MAC

Celebrity makeup artist Mylah Morales posted the following beauty breakdown for Rihanna’s RiRi Loves MAC look. Instead of brushes, the beautyblender was the go-to for achieving the flawless shoot. As a CoverGirl, Rihanna named the buffing bud as a beauty must-have.

Referred to as the “best pink egg that ever happened to makeup” by singer Brandy, the original beautyblender was spotted on the set of The Game. Brandy took to her Instagram to post the above image with celebrity makeup artist Trenton Simmons and celebrity hairstylist Nikki Wright. She said, “In my humble opinion, you can trust it!! The best pink egg that ever happened to makeup!!”

Alicia Keys beautyblender.jpgRapper Swizz Beatz captured his wife, singer Alicia Keys getting ready with the beautyblender. The singer was snapped giving face before she went on stage. In yet another photo, she is shown in her dressing room again. This time, she boosted her natural glow with NARS.

Do you own a beautyblender? If so, how has it changed your makeup routine, if at all?
