Kerry Washington’s Exact 2014 Emmys Makeup

Kerry Washington by Carola Gonzalez: Neutrogena, Kevyn Aucoin and Dior

skin.  Kerry’s skin is always exalted as “naturally flawless” so I’ll continue with the accolades.

I’m sure Gonzalez followed a similar regimen in preparing Kerry for this year’s Emmys: Prep the skin with Neutrogena Visibly Even Moisturizer to even out her skin tone, apply foundation where needed (Kerry usually wears Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in #9 but Gonzalez used Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer in SX11) and add a touch of  warmth with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blends Natural Radiance Bronzer in Sunkissed. Based on the behind-the-scenes snap shared on Twitter, Kerry is also wearing Neutrogena Healthy Skin Custom Glow Bronzer and Blush Duo in Raisin Glow, a “universal shade,” says Gonzalez.

eyes. There are some conflicting reports about the shade of Kerry’s smokey eye makeup. Some media outlets reported she wore stormy blue shadow while others identified the sultry shade as slate. I searched around and found Us Magazine’s commentary on her “dramatic eye,” as told by Gonzalez:

My inspiration was the navy blue skirt that goes under the dress.  I actually thought it was a pair of sparkling black hot pants!

To get the look, Gonzalez used Neutrogena Crease Proof Eye Shadow in Forever Platinum layered over Diorshow Fusion Mono Eyeshadow in 281 Cosmos, blending it up into the crease and along the lower lash line. To further define the eyes, she lined the entire eye with Neutrogena Nourishing Eye Liner in Twilight Blue and finished with four coats of Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara in Carbon Black. Of course, Washington is wearing lashes, perhaps Ardell?

So while the eyeshadows were varying shades of silver, the eyeliner was a deep navy. Mystery solved!

lips. The lips are kept soft and natural with one of Gonzalez’s favorite nudes: Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Warm Caramel. Warm Caramel is essentially a drugstore dupe of Kerry’s signature nude lip go-to Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Whole Lotta Honey on the hit tv drama Scandal.

Kerry Washington by Ashlie Johnson: Chanel

Kerry Washington in Chanel Rose ConfidentielI see it now: Kerry Washington loves her some Chanel nail polish! Chanel celebrity manicurist Ashlie Johnson used Rose Confidentiel, a “gorgeous rosy nude” that is very Olivia Pope-approved. See other nude nail colors Kerry loves in my post Celebrity Nail Secrets: Kerry Washington’s Nude Nails. A drugstore dupe is OPI Kreme de la Kremlin.

Kerry Washington by Takisha Sturdivant-Drew: Neutrogena and HairArt Tools

Kerry Washington was glowing on the red carpet tonight and I wanted to give her a fresh new look. So, I brought back the middle part and colored certain sections of her hair but kept the base dark. I finished off her look by cutting her hair into a choppy bob.

Before she got the party over hair started, she prepped Kerry’s hair with Neutrogena’s Triple Repair trio, which consists of the Fortifying Shampoo, Fortifying Conditioner and Leave-In Conditioner. “Triple Repair is great for split ends, gives shine, and strengthens hair that has been damaged,” Sturdivant-Drew revealed. Since she planned to infuse a bit of ombre life into Kerry’s tresses (they decided on a custom-blend of red, medium brown and light brown), she set the stage by warming up a dime-sized portion of the Neutrogena Triple Repair Leave In Conditioner and applying it to the end of Kerry’s hair. Takisha parted Kerry’s hair down the middle and tamed the roots with a round brush.

Weeks ago, HairArt Products sent Takisha a hair care package consisting of their H3000 Dryer, iTech Duo Curl, iTech Crimper, H3000 Heat Brush Pro, and their iTech (iT) Infrared 450 Flat Iron. For this sexy style, she used the iT Infrared 450 Flat Iron, a Jones Magazine Best in Beauty spring 2011 award winner, on very low heat (remember, it doesn’t take much heat to style Kerry’s hair) to fashion the carefree, duo-toned lob Kerry wore to the Emmys. This tool helped to lock in shine.
