Shopping Cookie Lyon

Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) stunned in a Pre-Fall 2015 SINGLE by Galina Sobolev “Taraji” Dress in “False Imposition,” which was also the latest outfit spotlighted in the show’s Facebook album “Cookie’s Closet.”

The brand’s DVF-esque red print wrap dress features an all-over, red, white and black animal print pattern, open flowing sleeves with strategic slits, a slight caped back, and a flouncy skirt.

This is one of the things I love about Empire: the costume designer Rita McGhee not only sticks to the more popular designer brands but also includes more moderately known lines into Cookie’s wardrobe.

Before the latest episode aired, I was not familiar with the SINGLE by Galina Sobolev line but Angela Simmons, Brandy, Melanie Brown and Michelle Williams have all worn SINGLE pieces in the past.

Reintroducing the Dress by SINGLE, Now Known as the Taraji Dress in Honor of Taraji P. Henson as Cookie Lyon

According to WWD.com, "About 50 women contacted Galina Sobolev the day after they saw Henson slink around in a red animal-print silk chiffon dress from Single’s archives on the show. First sold seven years ago for $387, the dress stirred so much interest that Sobolev revived it this fall in a limited run of 80 (and renamed it the "Taraji Dress." Although she should hike the price to $500 to cover inflating costs, the Los Angeles-based designer kept the original price tag so that customers could aspire to own a piece of Cookie’s life."

She upped the glam (or gaudy depending on who you ask) factor by pairing the bold leopard piece with a (sold out) pair of black BCBGMAXAZRIA Herve Leger Halona Multi-Piece Leather Boots. The combination came together to elicit an overly enthusiastic response on both Twitter and Facebook. If you want the look for less, Michael Kors has their High Woods V-Neck Maxi for $95.99:
