Happy Wednesday vixens! I thought I would get the Empire festivities started early with a fashion post. In “Enough!,” a sneak peek from tonight’s episode “Our Dancing Days,” we see Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) following her ex-husband Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) and Vernon Turner (Malik Yoba) into the Empire building. In an earlier sneak peek episode, I only saw Cookie’s white collar and a portion of her pinstriped blouse. I literally thought, “Is Cookie starting to dress like Anika now? Why?” But after watching this new promo, I instantly recognized the python and pinstriped print dress.
Lest my eyes deceive me but it’s totally plausible that our girl Cookie wore an Altuzarra for Target Pinstriped Crepe de Chine and Python-Print Twill Shirt Dress in this clip (totally sold out as we all know). After all, the show’s costume designer Rita McGhee provided this interesting tidbit in her Cosmopolitan interview about Cookie’s sartorial selections:
Now, Cookie shops at Target [sometimes]. We got a capsule line shirt at Target and a dress and then paired it with pearls and shoes. But Anika would never do that. She’s probably never even heard of Target.
Now the “capsule line shirt” McGhee mentioned? Not sure if the blouse has made an appearance on the show already (might have to watch the pilot again, perhaps?) but I do know this: we’ve seen Cookie carry her Ted Baker London Studded Metal Bar Shopper once before in “The Devil Quotes Scripture” (episode 3).
Stay tuned; I’ll update this post with screenshots once Fox uploads “Our Dancing Days” on their site.
