Yesterday, Beyonce kicked off the "Let's Move" campaign in partnership with First Lady Michelle Obama by releasing the official "Move Your Body" video. Instead of "Get Me Bodied," this new remixed club track now urges you to keep it moving by doing the dougie, the samba, and the running man.
Yesterday I finally picked up the March 2011 issue of Essence Magazine (with Angela Bassett on the cover). I was looking forward to a couple of features in this particular issue - the Essence 2011 Beauty Awards, Angela Bassett's "Unstoppable" and of course, Amber Riley's "She's Every Woman" photoshoot. I shot celebrity makeup artist Saisha Beecham an email after she revealed that she did Riley's makeup on Facebook.
For a moment, I honestly didn't think I would get this exclusive but Saisha came through last night. I am totally grateful that she emailed me back and I'm able to share this information with you all! She used all NARS Cosmetics. You can check out her profile on the Tamu Artist Agency website. For even more information, check out her website, her Facebook and Twitter.
I've been really feeling Amber Riley lately - and her photoshoot by famed photographer Derek Blanks in Essence Magazine's "Black Women in Hollywood" Issue was so fabulous (but where are her knees?) that it inspired this post. If you have a similar figure, this sequin Silver Coin Dress ($450 for sizes 0-8, $525 for sizes 8-12) by LaQuan Smith will look just as tantalizing on you as it does on Amber. I think the strappy byzantine heels are a nice touch too - I'm happy that they didn't go with basic black! If you want to order this dress, contact Kelly.
Finally!! This is the first time that I've been able to immediately recognize a dress that Tia Mowry Hardrict has worn while promoting The Game (which is coming on later on today at 10/9 C!!!). I am 100% sure that she wore a one-shoulder, hot pink dress with a black waistband from the Lanvin for H&M Collection on the Wendy Williams show.
Updated 4 February 2011: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics have created a new Lip Tar exclusively for Valentine's Day 2011. Now through February 14 only, all orders over $50 USD get a free Lip Tar in Valentino. Enter code VALENTINO in Special Instructions at checkout.
Editor's note: I could not find a better photo of Tia Mowry-Hardrict on the Mo'Nique Show so I had to crop this one from YouTube...sorry!
I didn't post this earlier because I wasn't sure whether or not if Tia Mowry-Hardrict was wearing a Brian Lichtenberg (was trying to spot the hood!) or another dress. Now I'm pretty sure it was the French Connection Samantha Sequins Dress she wore on The Mo'Nique Show last night:
Honestly, the fit of the dress threw me off since I noticed that the fabric seemed to be stretched a little over her stomach. Yes - Tia is three months pregnant and she is expecting her first child with her husband Cory Hardict in July 2011! I must've missed this announcement last night when she and the crew (sans Brittany Daniel) visited The Mo'Nique Show to promote The Game.
I actually like this dress better than the Lanvin for H&M dress she wore on The Wendy Williams Show. However, I must say that I wished Tia chose another shoe choice! Shop these similar styles from ASOS, Michael Kors, Nicole Miller and more:
Surely Amber Rose's colorful tube dresses would look familiar if you're a regular on Style.com, right? Last year, the site featured the PAVON by luz & victoria Flower Zip-Up Ruffled Tube Dress as a Summer must-have.
And I'm sure after seeing Amber Rose strut in their Pink Ruffled Tube Dress ($74) and Neon Patchwork Tube Dress ($62), you would be inclined to agree. This particular style (as well as others) have been seen quite a few times in Mexican Glamour. Pavon NYC is having a special: buy two, get one free. Klassiq carries Pavon NYC as well!
Christina Milian's outfit at the Nylon Magazine Young Hollywood Party yesterday reminded me of how I used to dress back in high school. Back then, I would only wear short sleeves with a jacket of some sort - I'd usually wear a black blazer. Sometimes, the blazer made the outfit and sometimes it didn't. I'm sort of on the fence about the blue jean jacket. It's not horrible but I'm not going crazy over it either.
However, let's talk about her tank. She is wearing theHaiti Tribeland Tank by Obey, $24 ($19.20 with rep code BLAQVIXEN). I think it was nice gesture on Christina's part to wear this tee. It is a reminder to us that Haiti still needs our help still, even months later.
If you like the design but favor a tee instead, cop the Haiti Awareness Tee in white, $18 ($14.40 with my rep code) or black, $20 ($16 with my rep code). Check out The Fashion Bomb to learn how you can get the rest of her look.
I guess it was only a matter a time, right? We know that Nicki's shoe game is crazy from time to time but I guess we could also add her accessories to the list. I wish I had my own killa klutch but for now, I'll live vicariously through Nicki in this aspect. Cop it in gold too over at Patricia Fields.
I'm happy that the vixens behind 2 Bitchez Deep is getting the shine they deserves!! Correct me if I'm wrong but I think she was also sporting the Jimmy Choo Zappa Suede Sandals with this dress as well.
Did you catch the Mo'Nique Show last night? I found it hard to concentrate on the interview because I was too busy staring at Eva's platforms heels! She wore the Versace Polka Dot Platform Heels, which are a part of Versace's Spring 2010 collection.
Normally, I don't do polka dots - for some reason anything polka-dotted gives off a cheap, dated vibe to me. However, I'd wear the hell out of these. I wouldn't exactly wear them with a leather minidress and a blazer, but hopefully I would find something else equally show stopping.
