My sister Rachel, who I have not featured on the blog in a while, is not only a diehard tomboy, but she is also the natural hair guru in our family. It was she who finally convinced me to do my first big chop back in March 2012, just a month after she did hers. Subsequently, she also schooled me on natural hair vloggers that shared my hair type (mostly 3c/4a with a crop of 4b if you’re into hair typing). Initially, I planned to have my mom (who’s unapologetically still relaxed) review Moroccanoil’s Smooth Collection. However, between waiting for my shipment to arrive at BVB headquarters and taking a much needed vacation, my mom chose the latter. Naturally, Rachel was the ideal replacement as she was due for a length check…and eager to test out new hair products for the blog.

We have another winner on our hands from Moroccanoil (previous favorite was their Intense Hydrating Mask, which I used back in 2008)! My sister was impressed with the entire Smooth collection, especially their Smoothing Lotion ($32). Her hair texture is all waves and curls (3c/4a) without a hint of kink. I insisted that she used my Canon PowerShot to document her results but she said she felt more comfortable using her iPhone 4, hence the reason why her length shot (and upcoming video featuring Curlformers) is not of the best quality. I am currently in the process of bribing her to redo her results so you can see why she is now a Moroccanoil convert. In the meantime, check out this quick Instagram video she made:
Moroccanoil Smooth Collection should be available in select salons nationwide and on www.moroccanoil.com starting today, August 1, 2014.
