I’ve spotted five products I want to buy from five black woman-owned Etsy shops! Shopping small, buying black is a cinch with Brown Butter Beauty, Daniela Talbois, Ashaka Givens, KUVITBEAUTY and AndHerStory.
I finally have a full minute to blog! I curated a wishlist of products from my favorite black woman-owned Etsy shops for the summer season.
Black Woman-Owned Etsy Shops: Brown Butter Beauty
Wishlist: Brown Butter Beauty Rose & Elemi Body Oil, $38
I’m in the market for a new body oil. I bought Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Deep Radiance Gel Oil recently but, unfortunately, I’m not pleased. Every time I use this product, my skin feels oily and dry rather than radiant and moisturized. For this reason, I decided to browse the offerings of my favorite black woman-owned Etsy shops when I discovered Brown Butter Beauty’s Rose & Elemi Body Oil, $38.
Brown Butter Beauty founder Christine Gant whipped up an elegant, lightweight, multipurpose oil that puts me in the mind of Tom Ford without the luxury sticker tag. She included exotic scents such as Damascena Rose, Galbanum, Orris, and Elemi. Each note plays well together to produce a light and feminine scent perfect year-round.
Above all, I love when I can score luxury beauty items at bargain prices. At any rate, I cannot wait to add the Rose & Elemi Body Oil to my fragrance wardrobe.
Black Woman-Owned Etsy Shops: Daniela Tabois
Wishlist: Crossback Daisy Print Jumpsuit, $250
It is so challenging to find authentic, black-owned luxury brands. When I do encounter a high-end business, especially on Etsy, I squeal with delight. Then, I promptly add said shop to my favorites.
Daniela Tabois specializes in amazing bridal attire, but there are a few pieces in her shop that are suitable for wear beyond weddings and wedding receptions. My eyes immediately settled upon this Crossback Daisy Print Jumpsuit. Besides maxi dresses, I also love a sleek, tailored jumpsuit for warm weather.
The temps here in Hawaii (and Dallas) can be unbearable so the fabrics Ms. Talbois chose for this piece ensures that the wearer will remain cool regardless of the event. This jumpsuit also features an open crossover back design and a back, centered invisible zipper. I cannot wait to pair this one-piece with yellow-gold jewelry.
Black Woman-Owned Etsy Shops: Ashaka Givens
I’m the proud owner of two Ashaka Givens Wool Fedora Hats with Gold Cuban Link Bands. Ever since I moved to Hawaii, I’ve worn both my black and toffee fedoras with many of my maxi dresses. I’m debating if I should buy Givens’ Cinnamon (currently on sale right now for $84 at 30% off) to my closet or wait until she offers other colors.
However, I’m adding her Wide Brim-Rabbit Fur Velour Fedora Hat with Interchangeable Bands to my hat collection very soon. The super wide brim reminds me of Beyonce’s “Formation” tour headgear. The fact that Ms. Givens offers this hat in a vibrant pink makes me beyond giddy.
Ms. Givens was the first black luxury designer I supported last year. I’m looking forward to buying more of her glorious toppers.
Black Woman-Owned Etsy Shops: KUVITBEAUTY
Wishlist: KUVITBEAUTY Eyeshadows, $8 ea.
Besides Coloured Raine and Juvia’s Place, I was curious to know what other black beauty brands offered eyeshadows. And then I found KUVITBEAUTY. With sisters Taylor and Madison Williams at the helm, KUVITBEAUTY is poised to be a leading black-owned beauty brand. Some of the shades offered could easily double as highlighters and blushes.
Their product photos and swatches capture the vibrancy of their shadows exquisitely. The 12-piece collection retails for less than $100. At the time of this writing, the duo only had seven shadows available for sale.
I sent them a quick message inquiring about the sold out shades. They promptly replied, assuring me they were planning to restock. However, they do plan to launch the official KUVITBEAUTY website soon. Additionally, both sisters offered to let me know when they’ve updated their Etsy shop.
You can never have too many eyeshadows, right?
Black Woman-Owned Etsy Shops: AndHerStory
Wishlist: Swarovski Gold Crystal Drop Dangle Earrings, $25
I have my mother to thank for my affinity for everything Swarovski. My introduction to the brand started when my father was stationed overseas in the early 2000s. My mom was a true hustler in those days. She was always going on shopping trips and returning home with lavish sculptures, dolls, and other fine trinkets. However, her first love is buying jewelry. When we discovered a Swarovski store at the Tacoma Mall in Washington state, we would always stop by to see their new arrivals.
And here we are! I found Rissa’s shop by way of her $149 Swarovski Crystal Pearl Choker Necklace (which I added to my Where to Buy Chokers Online Created & Sold By Black Women post). A couple of clicks and scrolls later, I found her $25 Swarovski Gold Crystal Drop Dangle Earrings. The pale citrine color and the Swarovski crystal components of these teardrops add the right amount of pizzazz without going overboard. These earrings will complement my Tracy Reese Scattered Petals Tiered Halter Maxi Dress nicely.
