Recently, celebrity makeup artist Billy Brasfield (“Billy B.”) took to his Twitter to pen a mini-rant to beauty brand Black Opal.  I thought his tweet was funny but sad. The man does have a point; have you found Black Opal Cosmetics in your area?

I had a rude awakening back in October. I wanted to try a couple of Black Opal products, like the True Color Liquid Foundation and the True Color Stick Foundation SPF 8. I also wanted to pick up my beloved Invisible Oil Blocking Loose Powder. I’ve visited three stores – two Wal-Mart locations and a Walgreens – and have been sorely disappointed since I’ve moved to Washington.

The last time I’ve seen any Black Opal products in person was in Converse, Texas. That was a year and eight months ago. Just now, I found just two stores that carry Black Opal in the entire state of Washington – a Wal-Mart in Renton and a Rite Aid in Seattle. And even then, there’s no guarantee that I’ll find the products I’m looking for.

Did you know that the Black Opal is not sold at all in these states like Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont or Wyoming. If you live in any of these states, you’d have a better chance of finding them if you lived overseas. I guess I should be happy for the two stores I found here, huh?

I know that I can very well just order from site. However, I prefer to see them in person so I can get a more accurate idea of which shade (or shades) I need to buy. Not everyone lives in New York where there are over 200 stores (CVS, Duane Reade, Rite Aid and Walmart) that carry Black Opal. From the looks of it, it seems like there’s a CVS on damn near every corner there!

So to answer your question Billy B, they’re all in New York. That’s where the “hellz” they are!
