I wasn’t in the supernatural spirit this year, so I stayed home, blogged and anxiously waited for the next episode of Scandal to come on. Yet, this year some of our faves took to Instagram to show up and show out for fright night. Here were my top 5 haute Halloween makeup looks from Instagram and beyong:
Haute Halloween Makeup Looks: Tika Sumpter as Nefertiti
Obviously I’ve found a new woman cave in Tika Sumpter’s womb so I’ll stay here for the rest of the night! First I shared her brow secret and now I am fawning over her riveting rendition of an iconic woman!
The Gossip Girl alum enlisted celebrity makeup artist Ashunta Sheriff to help her channel Egypt’s most beautiful queen Nefertiti. Rocking a Kajal-accentuated, golden brown winged eye (courtesy of Merle Norman Pro Pen Liner) fringed with House of Lashes Noir Fairy Lashes, the Lady of Grace was absolutely flawless.
Sheriff revealed she used her Perfect Blend in Deep and Ben Nye Banana Powder to highlight. To “bump up the contour,” she used MAC ‘Mineralize’ Skinfinish Natural in Dark. To add more depth to Sumpter’s cheekbones, Sheriff used MAC Eyeshadow in Sketch.
The lip is NARS Velvet Matte Lipstick Pencil in Train Bleu warmed up with Lip Bar Lipstick in Cosmo. (See more vampy lip looks for both brown and dark skin.)
Haute Halloween Makeup Looks: June Ambrose as Marie Antoinette
June Ambrose graced Heidi Klum’s annual Halloween bash as scorpionic Marie Antoinette. Celebrity makeup artist Porsche Cooper slayed the ever-loving flaw out of Ambrose’s visage! Is anyone else chanting cake, cake, cake in her Majesty’s wake?! I wasn’t ready!!
Her lashes are so spidery here one would think Cooper employed a pair of PAPERSELF Scorpion Glam Lashes to complement Ambrose’s dramatic, deep-set eyes.
The vamp stamp is clearly a doppelgänger for MAC Lipstick in Talk That Talk but check out Milani Black Cherry and Revlon Black Cherry to get the lip!
Haute Halloween Makeup Looks: Brandy as Freddy Krueger
Brandy displayed a chicer side of Freddy Krueger. We already knew the freakish horror fixture was low-maintenance, but we were not ready for this glimpse of grotesque glamour. Get into the sleek lob, symmetric brows, loads of lashes and glossy nude lips. When I want shine, I liquefy organic extra virgin coconut oil between my palms (like my name is Baby) and work the unrefined liquid throughout my 4a/3c coif. Kiss Ever EZ Lashes are always a godsend for quick and easy flair. A coating of MAC Lipglass in Spite would do the trick!
Haute Halloween Makeup Looks: Taraji P. Henson as Catwoman
Taraji P. Henson transformed into femme fatale Catwoman. Now this is how a beauty beasts it out for All Hallows Eve! Seeing Henson makes me want to dig through my stash for MAC Lipstick in Cyber and Hourglass Calligraphy Liquid Eye Liner in Ebony to replicate her catty, cool steeze. I’ve found Cyber looks exceptionally sexy tinged with NARS Lip Gloss in Downtown. Try it and tweet me at @BlaqVixenBeauty to tell me know what you think!
Haute Halloween Makeup Looks: Teairra Mari as Jessica Rabbit
Teairra Mari worked it out in all red everything as Jessica Rabbit: cascading scarlet looks, pouty cherry lips and a sequined crimson halter mini. An ensemble of this caliber deserves the red carpet treatment: Smoke and Mirrors Beauty Lashes in Hollywood paired with MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo. Lime Crime Red Velvet Velvetine Liquid Lipstick is another great pick.
