Beauty Items on Sale: Ardell Lashes Color Impact Lash Demi Wispies in Blue

Celebrity makeup artist Nick Barose chatted with Harper’s Bazaar about the look he created for actress Lupita Nyong’o at last night’s Non-Stop LA Premiere. Pantone’s spring 2014 color is Dazzling Blue, so it was fitting for Nyong’o to arrive with a set of metallic, bedazzled blue peepers to complement her copper Lanvin creation. Bypassing blue mascara, Barose instead applied Ardell Lashes Color Impact Lash Demi Wispies in Blue. He then coated the base of the falsies with DiorShow Black Out Mascara. Other options include Wine and Plum, both on sale for $4.63 – $5.99.

It’s official: Lupita Nyong’o is everything – she is here to stay and slay in Hollywood and beyond. To reiterate, she’s undeniably flawless.

P.S. Deborah Lippmann Limited Edition Rock This Town Set is on sale for $25. The set features three stunning shades: Moon Dance, Chain Reaction, and Phoenix Rising. Nyong’o’s SAG Awards red carpet nail look consisted of a layer of Swagga Like Us followed with a coat of Chain Reaction.

Beauty Items on Sale: OPI Wooden Shoe Like to Know (sold out at major retailers; check the OPI site)

Before I embraced the acrylic gel nail way of life, I was all about natural, nude nails. That was before I discovered Wooden Shoe Like to Know from OPI’s Spring – Summer 2012 Holland Collection. Unfortunately, this Instagram snap does not capture the decadence of this polish! It’s a creamy, plummy, chocolate brown infused with subtle blasts of golden and fuchsia shimmer. I’ve received so many compliments that it’s my signature color when I’m in uniform. My next mission? To find the gel version of Wooden Shoe Like to Know!

Beauty Items on Sale: Klix Makeup Blush Brush

Back when I was a beauty intern in 2011, I discovered a brand called Klix. Klix brushes promote a flawless complexion as you’re able to see any buildup from your makeup, prompting you to either clean or replace your brush heads. All of the brush heads are white which makes cleaning easy and productive. Beyond that, this collection is cruelty-friendly, eco-friendly and recyclable. Furthermore, as long as I’ve had my interchangeable set of brushes, none of them have ever shed. And they are incredibly soft – they caress the skin during makeup application.

Lucky for me, all the replacements are currently on sale for under $5: the Concealer/Foundation ($3), Powder Brush ($3.60), and Blush Brush ($3.30). These are the same brushes celebrity makeup artist Mary Phillips used on Jennifer Lopez!
