Should You Avoid MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Microfinish Powder?

Eva Langoria and Taraji P. Henson on BlaqVixenBeauty.com

14 January 2011: Wendy Williams reported that in Eva Longoria's case, it was her HD concealer, not her powder!

From STYLELITE: I meant to report this on Tuesday but it momentarily slipped my mind until today. The mysterious white powder that has been spotted on a slew of unfortunate celebrities (like Nicole Kidman, Uma Thurman, Taraji P. Henson and now Eva Longoria) was (incorrectly) identified by Wendy Williams. Williams pulled out a small container (which I believe was the HD Microfinish Powder To Go) and said that her makeup artist Merrell Hollis told her that the Microfinish Powder is meant for HD TV.

While it does set the makeup beautifully - in person and through HD (high-definition) cameras - once you take a picture with flash, the powder is no longer translucent and appears white in places that you've used the powder. So much for that flawless face, huh?

As it turns out, a MAKE UP FOR EVER representative called Styleite to say that someone is feeding Wendy Williams incorrect information as it it NOT their product that is "making Hollywood's leading faces look like they're wearing pounds of concealer when the flashbulb lights up." Interesting. Who would want to admit that anyway?

Yet, someone said that if you use too much of the powder, it does appear white on camera. I'm not sure if their makeup artists completely blended the powder or if they didn't moisturized their clients' faces sufficiently. Even taking these precautions, does it actually matter? I'm also thinking that the makeup artists just didn't brush the powder away when they were done.

Do you use a HD powder? If so, do you use MAKE UP FOREVER or another brand? Have you had a similar makeup mishap?

I used their(MAKE UP FOREVER) HD powder and it was a mess. It looked good in person and I did brush it off when I was done. I had it on for my bday dinner and while i looked great in person, all the pictures from the dinner had that white powder under my eye. I noticed it in the first set of pics and got a tissue to wipe it off but it did not help. I had to wash off my makeup and re-apply. I havent used it since. It messed up my bday photos!

When I first used this powder, I thought it was fantastic in the mirror. I used it for weeks. However several photos were taken off me with a flash at a party and posted on facebook and I looked awful. A mask of white was on my entire face and I didn't even apply that much. I put my pot straight in the bin the next day! Agree with above post, great for in person but not for photos.
