Besides Lancome Definicils, the best mascaras that I had ever tried was Maybelline Intense XXL Volume + Length Microfiber Mascara ($7.59), L’Oreal Full Definition Voluminous Volume Building Mascara ($6.99) and Max Factor Volume Couture ($6.99). I’ve sang the praises of these mascaras more than once on Blaq Vixen Beauty.
By the way, L’Oreal Full Definition Voluminous Volume Building Mascara is the frugal vixen’s Lancome Definicils while Maybelline Intense XXL Volume + Length Microfiber Mascara is the frugal vixen’s L’Oreal Volume Shocking Mascara ($12.95). Just a little something to remember the next time you’re due for a new mascara at the drugstore.
However, when L’Oreal Double Extend with Beauty Tubes Technology came into my life, I had to give it props. I already have long lashes but I love when I come across mascaras that make my own lashes look like falsies or enhanced through lash treatments. Beauty Tubes is that mascara. The slow drying time (of the primer - Step 1) allows me to really get every lash, especially my inner lashes and the tips of my outer lashes.
Then the magic begins with Step 2, which of course, is the mascara. It almost seems like time slows down as I apply Step 2, zig-zagging through my lashes and coating them with individual beauty tubes, hence the name.
Unfortunately, while Beauty Tubes delivers on length, it didn't deliver on the volume I was hoping for. I guess I was so hyped up the commercial...but I guess I assumed that it would deliver length and volume. Darn it! Still, I adore it. As for removing it, you have to apply a bit of water to remove all of the beauty tubes. I don't recommend pulling on your own lashes to remove them, especially if your own are sparse. It takes me a good 3 to 5 minutes to remove this mascara. I don't mind though. Furthermore, you'll noticed that the beauty tubes will look like miniature spider legs or even the small little hairs you get after you use hair removal cream. Don't freak out though!
So if you're looking for length, Beauty Tubes is great for that. Volume? You have to get that from another mascara. However, Beauty Tubes is still an excellent addition to your beauty closet.
