Total Glow-balization: Black-Owned Gold & Bronze Highlighters

This compilation of black-owned gold & bronze highlighters has been in draft for a spell. At first, I wanted to showcase popular highlighters that looked beyond on black skin. If you follow any black woman friendly Instagram accounts, then you know luminizers are, well, lit (pun intended).

But then the MakeupShayla vs. Jeffree Star beef erupted. I know it’s been days since the media personalities battled it out on Twitter. Yet I still have a bad taste in my mouth about the debacle.

Even more troubling? After reading the threats Jeffree posed to Shayla, Black women are still supporting Jeffree. I saw black chicks gushing over his new Skin Frost line and I thought, “Nah.”

Instead, I decided to do a quick list identifying highlighters from black-owned businesses. Every one featured is on my shopping list. I only found seven thus far. But our fellow entrepreneurs are launching new beauty businesses everyday. It’s only a matter of time before I can provide a more impressive list of glow-getters.

Staying faithful to my focus of black celebrity beauty, I have also included celebrities. These beauties are modeling glistening cheekbones on Instagram, at various events and at photoshoots. By the end of 2016, I hope to have more products for your consideration.
